Why might I get this?
Bony areas and structural abnormalities are subject to an increased amount of pressure when standing and walking. The body’s response to this is to develop hardened skin over these areas which if left untreated, can result in fissuring and in some cases, ulceration. It is advisory that such areas treated on a regular basis to prevent breakdown and infection.
Diabetes is associated with vascular and neurological complications. Patients with diabetes are at an increased risk of developing wounds, contracting infection and prolonged healing rates. If you have diabetes and even suspect a wound, it is crucial to have it seen to as fast as possible.

Diabetic foot assessment (Assessment, report sent to GP, footwear and foot care advice
Wound care: Depending on the severity, cause and type of wound, an appropriate dressing will be applied and treatment plan will be drawn up
